No! A paintball is a round thin-skinned gelatin capsule, very similar to a large vitamin E capsule. Paintballs are filled with a non-caustic, water-soluble, biodegradeable liquid in different colors.

What is a Paintball?

Paintball is an outdoor/indoor participation sport. It is a combination of childhood "hide & seek" and "tag", but more sophisticated and challenging.A group of paintball players usually divide into two equal teams, varying in size from four or five to as many as several hundred on a side. The object of the game is to go out and capture a flag, you also try to eliminate opposing players by tagging them with a paintball expelled from a special paintball gun.A paintball is a round, thin-skinned gelatin capsule, very similar to a large vitamin E capsule or a bath oil bead. Paintballs are filled with a non-caustic, water-soluble, biodegradeable liquid. They come in a rainbow of colors: blue, pink, white, red, orange, yellow, and other bright colors. When a paintball tags a player, the thin gelatin skin splits and the liquid inside leaves a "paint" mark on the player's clothes to signify his or her elimination. A paintball gun uses carbon dioxide (Co2) to propel the paintball. For safety, paintball players must always wear approved goggles to protect their eyes and face during a game. As long as the goggles are worn, paintball is a very safe sport, insurance statistics indicated that paintball is safer than golf, tennis, swimming, and many other sports.Referees on the field start and stop games, enforce the rules of play and control the sport's safety.Paintball is a sport played by people from all professions and life-styles. It is a sport where women stand on an equal footing with men. Physical size and strength do not create a star; rather, it is one's ability to think (like Chess) that helps make a star. Paintball is a character-building sport. Players learn the importance of teamwork, and gain self-confidence while developing leadership abilities.

Why Our Fields?

10 REASONS WHY TO PLAY AT OUR FIELDS

Women (watch out for them, they are fiercer than anyone), corporations, bachelor/birthday parties, students (10 yrs. and older), churches, youth groups, in fact anyone who wants to have fun is a candidate. Paintball has many positive attributes, for example, It doesn’t require any previous experience, skill or physical conditioning to play and, IT’S A LOT OF FUN! Many corporations use Team Building exercises for their employees to help with productivity. Paintball is one of the best team building activities out there; it is by far the most remembered, fun, time efficient and economical of any other activity around. It aids in: release of tension & stress, helps form a common bond of sharing, teaches goal setting, teamwork, leadership skills, encourages communication, etc. The benefits are numerous! We have a standing invitation to anyone who would like to see us in action first hand - for free. (Our bet is you’ll want to join the fun!) Reservations are recommended.

What should I expect?

Expect to have fun! No experience is necessary. At Tiger Stripe Paintball., special attention is given to beginner players. Upon arriving you will be greeted by our friendly staff, handed waivers to fill out, be given a full orientation on equipment, safety, game rules, and strategy; issued all of the necessary equipment required to play, be assembled into balanced teams based on skill level, (i.e. beginners vs. beginners), go to the target range to try out the equipment, trained Marshals will take you to the fields where you will play a series of games lasting 5-20 minutes each, with breaks in between, we try to allow players who want to play together to do so. People typically use the breaks for getting drinks, catching their breath, telling war stories, buying more paintballs (shameless plug!), getting cleaned up, and getting ready for the next game.

What if it Rains?

We Play Paintball, Of Course! We play rain or shine. It’s a lot of fun to play in the rain! It’s cooler, and definitely more challenging. (Shoes with good traction are critical when the field is wet). We have covered awnings so that you can stay dry in our picnic area when you are not playing, as well as heaters to keep you warm. We close only if the weather is extremely bad. Please call the field the morning of game day if you want to be sure that we are playing. We only closed 3 days during El Nino and that was because there were less than 20 people, not because of the weather.
A Rain Tip: Bring a plastic garbage bag up with holes for your head and arms, perfect rain gear, cheap and less obvious in the woods than a yellow slicker!!!!

What Should I Wear?

SHOES THAT PROVIDE GOOD ANKLE SUPPORT and PROTECTION! Hiking Boots are ideal, High Tops are also good.
CAMOUFLAGE IS IMPORTANT! Clothing should be earth tones (brown, gray, green, dark blue). For maximum comfort and "invisibility", the camouflage outfits that can be rented at Tiger Stripe Paintball. provide the most effective outer layer! LAYERING is the key to protection and comfort. Several light layers are preferable to one or two heavy layers. Layering provides better absorption of the impact of the paintballs and allows for adjusting your comfort level due to the temperature (Heat exhaustion is BAD!!!) and activity. Wear loose layers of fabric that "breathe". Avoid heavy, waterproof or tight clothes. EVERY PART OF YOUR BODY SHOULD BE COVERED. You can count on being hit on the only uncovered square inch you expose. Being hit on bare skin hurts, and although it does not do permanent damage; a slight bruise or welt may appear, depending on skin your type and at what range you are hit. Bring a muffler or a scarf for your neck, turtlenecks also work well.
Bring a hat that covers your ears, knit ski caps work well. GLOVES are recommended, gardening gloves work well, but any gloves are ok. Cutting off the glove fingertips is ideal. Bulky ski gloves do not work well. Tiger Stripe Paintball. also rents gloves at the field (for a modest fee, another shameless plug!). You’ll be running up and down hills, diving into twigs and brush, crawling on your belly like a lizard, jumping into gullies, rolling down hills, and falling to your knees (or stomach) many times during the day; any special protection will help. Elbow and kneepads are excellent. Bring more than you think you’ll need. Extra equipment can be shared with your comrades. Remember, the life they save may be yours!
*FACE SHIELDS & GOGGLES SPECIFICALLY ENGINEERED FOR PAINTBALL WILL IS PROVIDED. (Most glasses can be worn underneath.)
*NOTE: Contacts are recommended because goggles will fog up.
*A Rain Tip: Bring a plastic garbage bag up with holes for your head and arms, perfect rain gear, cheap and less obvious in the woods than a yellow slicker!!!!

Do I need reservations to play?

Open games are held every Sunday. Come by yourself or with a group of friends. Reservations are highly recommended when we are in the height of the playing season, walk-ons are always welcome. Private games are available during the week, and of course advanced notice is required. We play all year, even if it rains.

Does It Hurt?

The ball’s impact is more startling than anything. The best description is a sharp shock, like the quick snap of a rubber band. Here at Tiger Stripe Paintball, we have taken every precaution possible for your protection. We calibrate every gun to shoot below the industry standard before every game. We offer more protection than anyone! All of our safety gear is top of the line and maintained at the highest standards possible to assure your safety. If you do what is recommended as stated above, you will reduce the effect of the impact and enjoy the game to the fullest!
